Here at Koryu Books we've been trying to raise the level of not only the content, but also the production standards of martial arts books. Imagine our dismay when the advance copies of Sword & Spirit arrived, and we discovered that most of the photos had been reproduced at the wrong output resolution. They looked like they belonged in a newspaper, not in a quality book! We immediately ordered a reprint, but unfortunately, this caused a delay in having the books ready to sell.

So what to do about the many folks who were anxiously awaiting the chance to order?

We had already planned a special limited edition, of 150 numbered copies, to be signed and sealed by the editor, and to include a special color version of the frontispiece (depicted above). Usually a limited edition of this sort comes from the first edition of a book, and after considerable thought we've decided to go ahead and use 150 copies of this "flawed" but authentic first printing to create our limited edition. These books are identical to the "standard" edition available in bookstores and through the web site. The photos in the "limited edition" are not bad--they are just not up to our normal standard. And no one will be able to ever "forge" the limited edition, since the photos provide clear and visible evidence that it is an authentic variant, and a rare one too, since we only rescued enough copies to create this edition.

So, if you like "collectibles," are fond of tengu, or you just want to support Koryu Books, the Special Limited Edition of Sword & Spirit is for you.
